Instrument Rentals
Better Set-up. Better Strings. Better Sound.
I am not currently renting fractional instruments. Scroll down to see below for why it is more cost-effective to buy!
Full-size Instrument Monthly Rental Rates:
*7/8 violins and cellos for smaller adults are also available for rent
Rental period is for a minimum of four months. You must pay for the first four months when you get set up with the rental. After that a credit card is charged monthly. You are expected to keep your card on file in good working order.
Highlights of the contract to take note of:
PLEASE NOTE: There is no insurance on these rentals. If you damage one of my instruments you are responsible for the repair and the devaluation. I ALWAYS go easy on people by charging much less than market value for both of these. But you are responsible. The quote that I give you will be extremely fair and also non-negotiable. Please do not rent from me if you cannot afford to pay in the event of meltdown, or you think you might be unwilling to. (Yes, I got burned recently and nearly terminated the rental program as a result.)
Outfit includes instrument, case, bow, rosin, and cloth.
A full 100% rent-to-own option is available by doubling any of the rental rates shown above, meaning that by doubling the rate you can apply 100% of your rental payments towards purchase (instead of half). If you purchase a fractional instrument, later you can trade in the instrument for the next size up (less the cost of rehairing the bow, new strings, etc.)

Highlights of the contract to take note of:
- Half of your rental payments apply towards purchase. When you terminate the contract, if you wish to purchase the instrument, half of your rental payments apply towards purchase, and the purchase price is NOT inflated as they are at most music stores.
- A credit card is required, and is charged every month.
- Instrument goes out uninsured. You are fully responsible for it.

- Rental rates are very competitive, considering the amount of labor and expense that goes into each instrument. This is not mail-order or music store junk!
- Same attention to detail applied to the rentals as our more expensive instruments. Bridges, sound posts, nut, fingerboard, tailpiece, pegs, and strings are all fitted in our shop (we throw the poor quality factory fittings in the trash.)
- Better bows can be rented as an add-on option (bow included is a Glasser bow with horsehair.)
- Shoulder rests are available for purchase; check with your teacher.

Fractional instruments are more cost effective to buy!
Please consider:
Please consider:
- If your child quits playing and you sell the instrument online for half of what you paid for it, you have still spent much less than you would have renting. See below for example calculations.
- Fractional instruments are in stock and ready for sale (1/16 - 3/4).
- You can trade your instrument in at any time for the next size up. See below.
- Fractional violins and violas start as low as $300 (call for current inventory pricing).
- Fractional cellos start as low as $800.
- All instruments are set up in-house to very high standards, violins with Tonica strings, cellos with Prelude strings. 4/4 cellos are upgraded to Larsen Crown strings.
Example calculations for fractional instruments:
If you pay $360 for a fractional violin outfit, and you sell it in 18 months for $180, your cost per month is only $10!
If you pay $1000 for a fractional cello outfit, and you sell it in 18 months for $500, your cost per month is less than $28!
AND, you have had the use of a much better instrument than what is generally found elsewhere.

Trade-in:
If you trade in an instrument that has not been damaged while you owned it, the trade-in value is what you paid less the cost of new strings and bow that are required hard costs to refurbish. If there is damage, then the devaluation must be accounted for as well.
Note: This is not a buy-back program. Trade-in refers to trading in a fractional instrument for the next size.

Set-up:
All set-up is done in-house including hand-fitted bridge, soundpost, nut, fingerboard, Wittner tailpiece and quality strings. All cellos have user-friendly Perfecton planetary geared pegs, and many of the violins and violas do as well.
