Instruments are set up using harmonic design principles and my 40 years of experience to optimize sound and playability. I assist in the careful matching of instruments and bows to your sensibilities and budget.

Reed's Bio:
Studied violin making and repairing with William T. Walls in Tampa, Florida in 1976.
Studied the acoustics of bowed instruments with Dr. Carleen Hutchins at the Catgut Acoustical Society in Montclair, New Jersey, and within a short time began building instruments for Dr. Hutchins.
Entered an intensive course of study in violin making with Karl Roy, who at the time was head of the violin making school in Mittenwald, Germany.
After moving to Colorado in 1986, worked for Goodrich Violin Shop doing repairs, and learning advanced techniques in restoration.
Most recent master classes have been with violin maker and researcher Geary Baese, and include principles of harmonic design, construction and varnish techniques that his research indicates were well understood by the great Italian master violin makers.
