Mid 20th Century
German Violin
$1,800

Well made German factory instrument from the early to mid 20th century. Nicely flamed maple back and quarter cut medium grain spruce top. Instrument is in excellent condition with no obvious repairs. Setup work is all new including post, bridge, Wittner pegs, Wittner tailpiece with Götz tuner, Wittner chin rest, and Rondo strings.

Violin from the workshop of
Stefano Scarampella
1924
Certificate of authenticity from G&L Bisiach

Stefano Scarampella Di Brescia, Mantova workshop violin with certificate of authenticity from Giacomo & Leandro Bisiach. The instrument is dark red with golden undertones. All set-up work is recent with adjustments made to maximize the acoustic system of this instrument. Pegs were replaced with Wittner Finetune pegs that are easy to use. Strings currently on the instrument are Rondo Gold. Top is fine grain Italian spruce. Back and scroll are Manutan maple.

Instrument was listed with the Tarisio auction house at $18,000 with a reserve of $12,000. The instrument had not yet been properly set up and did not sell. It is now set up properly and I  am selling it for $10,000.

Excellent European violins with full-figured flamed maple backs and fine spruce tonewood tops. These instruments are purchased partially completed and then finished here, including acoustical adjustments for optimum sound, and hand varnishing for both sound and visual beauty. All setup work is also done by hand to professional standards. These instruments excel in warmth and power, with subtle nuancing found in much more expensive instruments.

The violin shown is the latest instrument ready for sale. The varnish is oil-based and is photopolymeric (requires sunlight to dry) which is how varnish was done by the Italian masters. The varnish utilizes pine resin that is hand collected and imported from Italy. Color coats utilize the finest ground pigments for optimal depth and transparency.

This is a professional violin at a spectacular pre-professional price!!

Prices start at $3,800
Highlights:
  • European wood
  • Tap-tuned plates
  • Made in Poland
  • Varnishing, final construction, final adjustments, & set-up done in Colorado
  • Proprietary wood sealer results in a silky, rich, warm tone found only in the finest instruments
  • Bois d'Harmonie tailpiece
  • Light weight Wittner chin rest
