Chinese Products
It has come to my attention that some Americans are concerned about where their consumer goods are being manufactured. The reality of the instrument market is that anything in the student range is almost always made in China. This began to change around 1998 and has continued ever since. The Chinese manufacturers have done an excellent job of offering well-made instruments that sound good and play well. And the pricing is highly competitive.
I personally have mixed feelings about this. I have done a great deal of research and do believe that there are seroius problems with the Chinese Communist Party, that they are not our friends and would love to see our downfall. And like others, I also am quick to distinguish that group of people from the otherwise hard working Chinese people. I don't know what the best answer is. As of now I am well stocked with Chinese instruments, and I will continue to sell them.
With all of that said, if it is your intention or desire to limit your purchasing of Chinese goods, the instruments, bows, and cases that I have in stock that are not from China are in fact excellent, if also a bit more expensive. Examples are my Workshop instruments made in Europe and finished by me (and they sound fantastic!). I also have a couple of instruments from German factories. And all of my Pernambuco bows are made in Brazil. CodaBows are made in the USA, although I now have limited stock on those. Bobelock cases are made in the Philippines. The strings that I use are all from Europe or the USA. If you have quesitons about country of origin for anything that I sell, please contact me.
